I have been using my computer for several months and I prefer to use Google chrome as my browser. With that being said, I like my homepage at www.google.com but now, ever since installing a program (I think it might be Skype) my homepage is Yahoo! Google.com does open, but in a new tab and it is quite annoying to have to change tabs every time that I get on chrome. I have tried going into my settings, and I have www.google.com set as my homepage and even after managing my search engines in Chrome so that Yahoo is not listed it continues to stay like this. I have gone to control panel as well but there is no yahoo engine installed, even under another name. Does anyone know how to fix this? You need to go to your installed programmes and find and uninstall a programme called SPIGOT (my caps).I worked this out after searching for an answer and finding all kinds of shark attack style suggestions that involved installing further software (how can you be sure the advice isn't from more spammers? No offence to those who aren't), or doing complicated things in the registry, setting up additional user profiles, etc.As you say, this irritating virus comes piggy-backed on part of a different download and is clearly deliberately hidden. If you are using Chrome, you can solve the Yahoo problem by 'Resetting Browser Settings' in Chrome's Preferences. In an earlier post I made (Jan 21), I accidentally wrote 'Go to Google.' Rome total war 2 crashing on end turn windows 10. I'm sorry, I meant to say 'Go to Chrome.' Here are those instructions again. If you're running Chrome, I guarantee this will get rid of Yahoo.Go to Chrome/ Preferences, click on Settings in the left hand margin. At the bottom of the page is the option to 'Show Advanced Settings'. Click on that and scroll to the very bottom of that page.Click on the 'Reset Browser Settings' box and a little window will open. Click Reset. Now quit Chrome and re-open it. You should have Google as your search engine again. Microsoft decided that a design change was overdue for the MSN webpage which had not had a major redesign done in the past ten years. The new MSN homepage went live in November of last year and many users criticized it. The main point of criticism was the to bright color scheme on the MSN homepage and other pages which made it very hard for some user to read the contents of the page.If you look at our post about the design change of the back then you notice dozens of comments that all criticize Microsoft and the new website.Update: Microsoft pulled the old version of the MSN website. It is no longer available, and there is no way to go back anymore. The new MSN page has a feedback button at the bottom of the screen that can be used to send feedback about the design change to Microsoft. It is on the other hand unlikely that Microsoft will undo the design changes and revert back to the old MSN design. But there is thankfully another option - at least currently - for users who want the old MSN back. Point your web browsers to instead of the main MSN website. You will notice that MSN Members is still using the old MSN color scheme and layout. It is likely that Microsoft will change the MSN members page design eventually so that it too will use the new layout and color schemes. We keep you informed on the matter and will post updates as soon as we get them.Update: Please note that Microsoft has disabled the loophole and that there does not seem to be a way to access the old MSN website anymore. This is unfortunately for users who like the old layout, design and functionality of MSN and dislike what the new site offers. My Msn Homepage Is Gone FreeBrilliant move MSN.com! You kept feeding me the new MSN homepage from Nov., but I managed to get the old one back, so stayed with MSN.com, Loved the old page for several years now. However, now that the change is permanent, I’m switching to igoogle or something. Not that I wouldn’t trade anything for the old MSN.com in a moment, but until I find something that is I like as much as the old MSN.com homepage, will have to look for somethings else. To those of us who liked MSN.com, an inconveience at best.Maybe, marketing data prompted you to make the change, whatever. However, could have at least left those of us devoted to the old page (me?) an option to stay with it. Knew where everything was and liked the design. Mount and blade warband warhammer mods. In fact the new banner page looks like something a prekindergartener could have come up with (though, in my opinion, they probably could have decidend on a better design a better job). Maybe some setting like choose your preferences (i.e., new or old) might have workedPerhaps Google will design something for us to replace the old MSN.home page.Goodbye MSN.com. Its your website and you’re free to choose who you appeal to and who you throw under the bus. Also, no offense intended to the people who designed the new webpage. I’m sure it will appeal to a lot new perhaps even aold users and has some good features.Anyway, Goodbye to the old MSN.com homepage. A good friend and homepage over the last several years. Although don’t like the design of the new MSN.com homepage, after messing with the customization features at the top, I found that I could get a reasonable facsimile of the old home page, including a blue banner replacing the color crayon headers at the top. But, I couldn’t find out how to get the listings at the top back, which were convenient. I do think MSN.com missed a shot at not loosing a lot of users by not saying something like “like the old homepage? You can recreate it using our customization feature,” etc., Also, since the new page is customizable, they could have gone a step further allow you to recreate the old home page exactly as you like it, for the people who don’t like new home page. However, this will do for now as long as they don’t decide to eliminate this customization feature as well. The result came out as, but I believe you can change the name. I get the feeling that MSN has the same attitude as our politicians do these days, and that is that they know better and other opinions do not matter.I really liked the old MSN hotmail but know that had to change? It was so easy to work with like to put a picture or file in the e-mail I just dragged or copy/paste in the e-mail. Now it has to go thru a server to get it attached in the e-mail and most the time it doesn’t come out right or get delivered in entirety? Maybe that change was done to make it more secure or whatever reason. If it was security I do not see how adding another location and several more steps could make it more secure that is not true.Maybe it was one more way to track and monitor people more. I have heard a theory that Bill Gates has become a government person just short and yet far above a politician in the common sense. That may explain the push for things like silverlight which is not far complete peer to peer.Looks like privacy is going away. For those that say they have nothing to hide wait till they are trying to do something and there is a person who can access their data. Good luck with your future court battles against the politicians or government cause they will know your every move right or wrong, even if they are the ones that are wrong that kind of advantage makes a lot of difference.Anyhow I would like to say that I loved the old page the layout was fantastic for seeing all news at a glance then just a matter of a click to go where I wanted. It really stinks now and I only go there to check my mail which I may change to the new site I find to call home. I no longer go to the MSN site as home. Maybe it is time for someone new to stepup and offer what you have left behind and bring back the “old style” MSN webpage. Thanks for the new improved page maybe it will catch on for some people. Not for me though. I guess it will be time for many to say good bye to MSN, Shame I have been going there since its conception. I hate the new MSN It left out my weather site that I like to go on and look at the radarmap that show the weather maps in real time, so I can follow the weather through out theState of AZ. I don’t see any place in the new MSN where I can follow that. I miss it amongother things. I find the NEW MSN to be choppy and unatractive. Plus difficult to manuver.I hate it. Change is acceptable if it serves all the people all the time, but not good if itserves some of the people some of the time. This is not a good change. If you don’t want tochange it back that is BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Because the customer is always right. And your not listening to the people who pay your payroll. Think about that. Un-freakin-believable.The previous My MSN could be uniquely customized. We had the weather of all of our family around the world in one spot. We had the links we use Every Single Day over and over in one place (the hell with burying them in the favorites or bookmark lists). We now have to go back and reconstruct that list and find another way to access it — which is a PIA and a waste of my time.We do not buy the tabloids WHY should they be inflicted on us on a homepage we look at hours every single day????Having random “news”!!11!!!! Pictures which take up 1/4 – 1/3 of our Screens is bizarre. Most of these things We Do Not Care About. If I see a headline or a link I am interested in I will go there. We do not want it shoved down our eyeballs. The options suck all the way around. I have sent many many many complaints in the feedback section. The number one complaint is that WE KNOW HOW TO READ AND DO NOT NEED PICTURES FOR EVERY DAMNED THING ON THE SCREEN.Gone are the finer points of the sports news we had tucked in one side for the one family member. Gone is the list of health and medical news another family member kept their finger on.Sheesh. I cannot imagine a worse screen. I barely tolerate yahoo as it is and aol is similar though on a smaller scale. And “customize” “personalize”??? What a complete joke.It looks like a high school design project.Bottom line? We are Gone Gone Gone from MSN. Currently trying to set up on a way lesser know site we create ourselves.Nice while it lasted.
